TERRES FERTILES - BALSAN - PARIS DESIGN WEEK 2024

TERRES FERTILES - BALSAN - PARIS DESIGN WEEK 2024

TERRE FERTILES is a bespoke carpet collection by Balsan, imagined as the second chapter of the DIALOGUE series. Inspired by cultivated landscapes, the nine designs evoke furrows, land parcels, and the visible imprint of human activity on the earth. Presented during Paris Design Week 2024, the collection transforms the Balsan showroom into an aerial landscape of warm brown and wheat tones, symbolizing fields shaped by human hands. A central flowing motif represents water irrigating the land—introducing a new scale and a hopeful perspective on our relationship with nature. Through this scenography, Elsa Pochat highlights craftsmanship, short supply chains, and innovation as concrete responses to global warming. Balsan, heir to the Royal Manufactory founded in 1751 in Châteauroux, designs and manufactures textile flooring in France. Committed to sustainability, the company uses regenerated ECONYL® nylon yarns made from recycled fishing nets and reclaimed carpet fibers—contributing to cleaner oceans and a circular production model.
